MINSK, 21 April (BelTA) – An international academic center ICRANet will open in Minsk next week, the press service of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) told BelTA.
An international symposium on getting Belarusian scientists integrated into research programs of leading international nuclear physics centers will take place in Minsk on 26-28 April. The International Center for Relativistic Astrophysics Network (ICRANet Minsk) will be officially opened as part of the symposium. ICRANet’s founder, Professor Remo Ruffini (Italy) is expected to deliver a public lecture.
Representatives of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus noted that the participation of Belarusian scientific institutions in the operation of the world’s largest nuclear physics centers will be beneficial for the country because it will allow scientists to directly partake in major scientific experiments, in the development of cutting-edge technologies that may find practical applications. Participation in the operation of international nuclear physics centers is also beneficial for training top-qualification personnel, who will be needed to keep the future Belarusian nuclear power plant operating safely.
The symposium on getting Belarusian scientists integrated into research programs of leading international nuclear physics centers in Minsk will help more Belarusian scientists participate in the operation of such centers. A panel session will be arranged as part of the symposium to determine practical avenues of cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), which is based in Grenoble, France.
