MINSK, 11 March (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number 59 Aliaksandra Sasnovich went off to a good start at the 2022 Indian Wells Masters on 11 March, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian proved stronger over Colombia’s world number 35 Camila Osorio in the opening match. Aliaksandra Sasnovich won the first set 6-4 and was leading 5-0 in the second when her opponent decided to withdraw. Aliaksandra Sasnovich will next face world number 31 Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic.
Belarus’ world number 3 Aryna Sabalenka will kick off her tournament's run in the second round against Italy’s world number 46 Jasmine Paolini. Belarus’ world number 15 Victoria Azarenka will open the tournament against Australia’s world number 96 Astra Sharma.
In the men’s opener Belarus’ world number 41 Ilya Ivashka will take on world number 58 Jan-Lennard Struff of Germany. The tournament at Indian Wells will be over on 20 March.
