Ilya Ivashka advances at ATP Challenger in Marbella

MINSK, 8 April (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number 115 Ilya Ivashka has reached the quarterfinal of the ATP Challenger in Marbella, BelTA has learned.

In the round of Last 16 the Belarusian secured a solid win, 6-1, 6-3, over Spain’s world number 56 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in an hour and 15 minutes.

Ilya Ivashka shook off Spain’s world number 100 Pedro Martinez 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) in the opener. The Belarusian will next play either Italy’s world number 18 Fabio Fognini or Spain’s world number 95 Jaume Munar.

In the doubles’ round of Last 16 Belarus’ Andrei Vasilevsky and Israel’s Jonathan Erlich lost to the Netherlands-Salvador tandem of Matwe Middelkoop and Marcelo Arevalo 4-6, 6-7 (2-7).

The tournament in Marbella will finish on 11 April.
