MINSK, 27 December (BelTA) – Midfielder of the Belarusian national football team and FC BATE Borisov Ihar Stasevich has been named the Football Player of Belarus for the second time in a row. Following the vote of Belarusian football specialists and sports journalists, Igor Stasevich has been named the country's best football player for the third time (2015, 2018, 2019), BelTA has learned.
The player got his award at the Star Ball 2019 ceremony on 26 December. The 34-year-old Ihar Stasevich was also named the best player and midfielder of the recently-completed 29th Belarusian Football Championship.
Winners in other nominations are:
Best goaltender – Aliaksandr Hutar (FC Dinamo Brest);
Defenseman – Pavel Rybak (FC Shakhtyor Soligorsk);
Forward – Ilya Shkurin (FC Energetik BGU Minsk). He was also named the best striker of the 29th Belarusian Football Championship, with 19 goals in 26 games, and also the MVP of the championship.
The best match officials of the Belarusian Football Championship were named Vitaly Sevostyanik, Dmitry Zhuk and Vitaly Malyutin.
The Fair Play award went to silver medalist FC BATE Borisov. The People’s Choice award was clinched by champion FC Dinamo Brest. FC Energetik BGU got the Will to Win award.
Former coach of FC BATE and current head coach of FC CSKA Moscow Viktor Goncharenko was named the best Belarusian coach. This is his ninth title.
Anastasia-Grazyna Shcherbachenya got the title of the Female Football Player of Belarus 2019. Sergei Krykun was named the best player in futsal, Valery Makarevich – in beach soccer.
Director of the SOS Children's Village Maryina Gorka Dmitry Koltovich was awarded for the contribution to the development of grassroots football.
