MINSK, 20 July (BelTA) – Minsk played host to its ever biggest hot air balloon fiesta during the aviation sport festival 70 Years of Peaceful Skies on 18 July, BelTA informs.
Operators of 54 balloons from Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, New Zealand, Poland, Russia, and Ukraine made their start at Minsk 1 Airport in the early morning of 18 July and flew about 22km to the south-east of the city.
The organizers of the festival hope that the ascent of 54 hot air balloons would be included into the Guinness Book of Records as the biggest flight of balloons over the capital of the country.
The aviation sport festival, called 70 Years of Peaceful Skies this year, was held in Minsk for its second time. The program of the festival included the International Aeronautics Championship, helicopter races, an air show, a children’s day and other numerous events.
