MINSK, 19 March (BelTA) - Head of the Belarusian-French music association La Vie en Musique (Life in Music), famous Belarusian musician and composer Georgy Sosnovsky was awarded the Francysk Skaryna Medal during a ceremony at the Belarusian Embassy in France, BelTA learned from diplomatic mission.
The Belarusian diaspora in France helps foster bilateral relations between the two countries in the economic and cultural dimension, noted Belarusian Ambassador to France Pavel Latushko. In his words, Georgy Sosnovsky and the association he is heading regularly arrange events to promote the Belarusian culture.
The ceremony was followed by a classical music concert by Georgy Sosnovsky and his students. Another highlight was an exhibition of Belarusian painters, participants of the famous exhibition Art Capital which was held at the Grand Palais in February under the aegis of the French president and the Ministry of Culture.
The event at the embassy brought together French officials and public figures, and also representatives of the Belarusian diaspora in France.
Georgy Sosnovsky received the award in recognition of his remarkable personal contribution to the promotion of the Belarusian culture abroad and support for young Belarusian musicians.
