GOMEL, 29 January (BelTA) – The Winter University of UNESCO Clubs will be held in Gomel on 30 to 31 January. It will bring together representatives of thirty UNESCO clubs and candidate clubs from all Belarus’ regions and also guests from the Russian city of Bryansk. All in all, partaking in the forum will be more than 150 people, BelTA learned from the press service of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee.
The meeting has become a traditional event arranged by the Belarusian Association of UNESCO Clubs. The Winter University is aimed at enhancing the skills of the members of the clubs, promoting United Nations and UNESCO activities, sharing knowledge about the world’s and Belarus’ cultural, historic, and environmental heritage, and training young journalists.
Ten creative workshops UNESCO Club Invites, three workshops for graduates of UNESCO clubs academies, and a coaching school will be held as part of the forum. The workshops will provide platforms for sharing experience and implementing projects. The program of the forum also features a cultural part which includes the award ceremony of the contest of projects UNESCO: Education. Science. Culture and a concert. Besides, the participants of the winter meeting will be offered a guided tour of the city and of the Palace of the Rumyantsevs and the Paskeviches.
First Belarusian UNESCO clubs were founded in 1989. Today there are UNESCO clubs in all Belarus’ regional centers.
