GOMEL, 30 May (BelTA) – The international conference Cross-Border Cooperation in Environmental Security and Environment Protection will take place at Francisk Skorina Gomel State University on 4-5 June, BelTA learned from the press service of the university.
The forum, in its fourth year, will bring together scientists, undergraduates, students, and employees of scientific research institutes, environmental organizations and IT companies. According to the press service of the university, the importance of international cooperation in the field of environmental issues is proved by the constantly increasing number of conference participants. At the forthcoming forum, more than 200 specialists from eight countries will present the results of their studies.
The conference will kick off with a plenary session to discuss innovations in the system of geoinformation technologies, rational nature management, environmental safety amid the growing urbanization. The conference will proceed in four sections. The forum participants will discuss global and regional environmental issues, aspects of applied ecology and radioecology, free geoinformation systems, methods of creating and processing spatial information. Reports will cover such areas as socio-economic geography, biogeography, zoology, geochemistry, geophysics of landscapes, hydrology, landscape studies, and others.
“Cross-border cooperation in ecology is becoming increasingly important. Joint coordinated work of specialists helps accumulate and systematize information on the state of the environment, make concerted decisions in environmental security, popularize the ideas of nature protection,” the university emphasized.
An electronic collection of materials will be published after the conference.
