GOMEL, 23 November (BelTA) – The international festival Gomel Fest 2020 has brought together 1,800 participants from four countries, BelTA learned from the ideology, culture, and youth affairs department of the Gomel City Executive Committee.
The five-day festival featured contestants from Belarus, Moldova, Russia, and Ukraine. The youngest participant was only two years old, the oldest were way past fifty.
The competition was held online and offline. Many participants recorded their performances and sent them to the jury. The contest featured five categories: vocal arts, choreography, instrumental music, theater, and visual arts.
The grand prix went to a participant from Belarus – students of the circus studio Feyeriya from Orsha. They surprised the jury with their performance of the dance Beryozka on self-balancing scooters, that they enhanced with many unusual elements.
One of the brightest events of the festival was a gala concert that featured the best singers and dancers. Zibar Ganbarova from Minsk and Alina Chervyakova from Gomel were named best vocalists, and dancers from the Irish dance school Dance Spirit from Borisov were the best in the choreography category.
Many other participants received special prizes from the partners of the festival. Some were invited to take part in various national and international competitions.
Gomel Fest is organized by the Gomel culture center with the support from the ideology, culture, and youth affairs department of the Gomel City Executive Committee. The organizing committee of the festival has already started preparing for the 3rd edition of the international art festival Gomel Fest 2021. The main goals of the event are to find and promote talented artists and groups, facilitate their creative improvement, cultivate artistic and aesthetic taste among the youth, and help participants establish cooperation and exchange best practices.
