Gerasimov advances at Winston-Salem Open

MINSK, 23 August (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number 81 Egor Gerasimov kicked off his Winston-Salem Open run with a 7-6 (8-6), 3-6, 6-2 win over world number 112 Norbert Gombos of Slovakia in two and a half hours, BelTA has learned.

Egor Gerasimov will next face France’s world number 82 Richard Gasquet.

Belarus’ world number 63 Ilya Ivashka will take on Italy’s world number 88 Andreas Seppi in the opening round. The winner will play world number 36 Marin Cilic.

The Winston-Salem Open will finish on 28 August. The world’s best tennis players will head to New York for the season’s final Grand Slam tournament – US Open, which is due to take place on 30 August-12 September.
