MINSK, 23 April (BelTA) – Belarus’ number one Aleksandra Gerasimenya won the 50m freestyle gold of the Open Russian Swimming Championships in Moscow, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian was fourth in the qualification, clocking 25.60. She improved her time to 25.49 to finish fifth in the semifinal and left no chances to her rivals in the final touching in 24.72. Aleksandra Gerasimenya beat Russia’s record in the 50m freestyle that was set by Yelizaveta Bazarova at 24.82. This time Yelizaveta Bazarova finished 4th in 25.21. Second came in Natalia Lovtsova (24.93), with Maria Kameneva in the third position (25.01). Earlier in the tournament Aleksandra Gerasimenya collected bronze in the 100m freestyle event, clocking 54.38.
As was reported, Yevgeny Tsurkin of Belarus won the 50m butterfly gold showing the time of 23.26. Nikita Tsmyg was 7th in the 200m backstroke (2:02.01).
