MINSK, 26 July (BelTA) – Aleksandra Gerasimenya of Belarus has advanced to the women's 50m backstroke final at the 17th FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian clocked 27.54 seconds to finish third and place seventh overall. The best time was demonstrated by 2014 world champion Etiene Medeiros of Brazil (27.18), Yuanhui Fu of China (27.19) and Kathleen Baker of the United States (27.48). The final is scheduled for 27 July.
Ilya Shimanovich of Belarus touched in eighth (27.27) in the men’s 50m breaststroke. Gold went to Adam Peaty of the UK, who clocked 25.99 seconds. Silver was claimed by Joao Gomes Junior of Brazil (26.52). Third was Cameron van der Burgh of the RSA (26.60).
The 17th FINA World Championships in Budapest will be over on 30 July.
