MINSK, 6 July (BelTA) – Famous actor Gerard Depardieu visited the Belarusian Embassy in France on Belarus Independence Day, BelTA learned from the diplomatic mission.

Nowadays there are not many countries which can pursue the independent policy in the best interest of their people like Belarus does, the actor said as he met with Belarus Ambassador Pavel Latushko.

Gerard Depardieu saw the Art Zabor exhibition on the fence of the Embassy which displays copies of the paintings of eight modern Belarusian artists. The actor stressed that he appreciates the efforts of the Embassy to tell the French general public about Belarus, the representatives of the diplomatic mission said.

On the occasion of the Independence Day Gerard Depardieu wished the Belarusian nation happiness, prosperity and wellbeing.
