Minsk, 21 November (BelTA) – Chairman of the Georgian Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze was awarded a diploma “Honorary professor of Belarusian State University” on 21 November, BelTA learned from the press service of the university.
The ceremony was held as part of the official visit of Georgian MPs to Belarus. Irakli Kobakhidze was awarded the honorary title in recognition of his big personal contribution to strengthening and developing all-round friendly relations between Georgia and Belarus.
When speaking to faculty members and students, Irakli Kobakhidze expressed gratitude for the great privilege to be an honorary professor of Belarus’ leading university. He said he hopes that Belarus-Georgia cooperation will continue to grow. The Georgian speaker also answered dome questions. He talked about his dream concerning his personal life and his country, and also shared his opinion on the Belarusian cuisine.
The Georgian MPs are in Belarus on an official visit from 20 to 22 November. The highlight of the visit was their meeting with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko.
