MINSK, 1 March (BelTA) – Georgia President Giorgi Margvelashvili has been impressed by the multifunctional cultural and sport facility Minsk Arena, BelTA has learned. Giorgi Margvelashvili made the relevant statement on a tour of the facility on 1 March.
Giorgi Margvelashvili began the tour with the cycling ground where the Georgian leader was also informed about the experience of building small and large facilities for winter sports in Belarus.
Giorgi Margvelashvili was interested in the skating stadium, inside which there are two ice hockey rinks. Giorgi Margvelashvili heard out a report about the operation of this unique facility with interest.
The Georgian head of state asked about the occupancy rate of Minsk Arena, which can seat 15,000 people, and about engineering peculiarities of the facility.
At the end of the tour Giorgi Margvelashvili received a small crystal replica of Minsk Arena. Leaving Minsk Arena, Giorgi Margvelashvili thanked the tour guide for the interesting presentation. Minsk Arena is very impressive, he noted.
The multifunctional cultural and sport facility Minsk Arena is one of the most up-to-date multifunctional complexes in Europe. It is designed to host international sport events, cultural and entertainment events. Minsk Arena was opened on 30 January 2010.
Giorgi Margvelashvili went on a tour of Minsk Arena as part of the Georgian leader’s official visit to Belarus. Official talks between Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Georgia President Giorgi Margvelashvili took place in the Palace of Independence earlier that day.
