MINSK, 20 January (BelTA) – The KHL’s major trophy, the Gagarin Cup, will be on display in the Belarusian capital at the forthcoming weekend, on 23-24 January, BelTA informs.
The prestigious trophy will be on show at Minsk’s shopping mall Zamok.
The Gagarin Cup is presented to the winner of the Kontinental Hockey League playoffs. The Cup, made of 19kg of silver, is gold-plated and decorated with small pucks that contain the names of the winning teams. The Cup also carries the names of players, coaches and heads of the ice hockey clubs that won it.
The Gagarin Cup kicked off its international tour from Saint Petersburg. After Minsk the trophy will travel to Moscow where it will be displayed on 30-31 January. The Gagarin Cup is expected to visit 11 cities over the next three month months.
