MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – Dzianis Khramiankov of Belarus clinched bronze in the men’s freestyle wrestling 125kg category at the Individual World Cup in Belgrade, Serbia, BelTA has learned.
On the way to the podium the Belarusian defeated Armenia’s Hovhannes Maghakyan 10-0 but lost to Russia’s Shamil Sharipov 2-13. In the bronze medal bout Dzianis Khramiankov solved Aleksander Khotsianivski of Ukraine 6-5.
Three more Belarusian freestyle wrestlers finished fifth. Vladislav Andreev (57kg) went through repechage successfully but lost to Iran’s Rahman Mousa Amouzadkhalili 0-4. Azamat Nurikau (74kg) lost to Fazli Eryilmaz of Turkey 2-7. Arkadi Pahanasian (92kg) lost to Switzerland's Samuel Scherrer 4-8.
Aleksandr Hushtyn (97kg) will face Olympic champion Abdulrashid Sadulaev of Russia for gold. Nyurgun Skryabin (65kg) and Mahamedkhabib Kadzimahamedau (79kg) keep their medal chances alive as they face repechage.
Earlier at the Individual World Cup which is held instead of the World Championships, gold medals were won by Kirill Maskevich in Greco-Roman wrestling and Iryna Kurachkina in the women’s wrestling. Bronze medals were claimed by Maksim Kazharski, Soslan Daurov and Radik Kuliyev in the Greco-Roman wrestling and Zalina Sidakova and Vasilisa Marzalyuk in the women’s wrestling.
