NESVIZH, 7 June (BelTA) - Five cooperation agreements were signed between the cultural institutions of Belarus and Russia, Vice Chairman of the Committee on Science, Education and Culture of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Sergei Rybakov told media when summing up the breakout session “Belarusian-Russian cultural and humanitarian cooperation and collaboration in tourism: historical and contemporary context” held in Nesvizh as part of the 3rd Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus, BelTA has learned.

“These agreements are a very important step in the development of bilateral cooperation. We need ties not only between the states and regions but also between institutions. For example, today the agreements on cooperation were signed between the Astrakhan State Historical-Architectural Museum-Reserve, and Belarus National History Museum, Sergiev Posad Drama Theater-Studio “Theatre Ark” and Yakub Kolas National Academic Drama Theater. When the institutions interact directly, they always agree on concrete and practical things, derive maximum benefits from interaction for themselves and society. Today we have launched this important process, and, in our opinion, it will be gaining momentum,” Sergei Rybakov said.

According to him, the breakout session was fruitful. The participants discussed specific areas of cooperation. The discussion was very meaningful. Among the topics was the role of museums in the development of the cultural space of Belarus and Russia, the efforts in preserving the memory and counteracting the attempt to distort the history of the Second World War, the ways to enhance the Belarusian-Russian cooperation in filmmaking. “During the discussions, we heard very many interesting ideas and proposals. We decided to arrange them into a separate protocol and use it in our further work to develop cultural and humanitarian cooperation in tourism in the Union State,” Sergei Rybakov noted.

The guests were given a guided tour of the National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve Nesvizh and attended a chamber music concert.
