MINSK, 5 January (BelTA) - The United Arab Emirates scored their first win at the Christmas International Amateur Ice Hockey Tournament for the Prize of the President of Belarus in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

This is the third time that Team UAE is playing in the Belarusian capital. Today they beat their rivals from Switzerland 6-1 (0-1, 4-0, 2-0). Allowing a goal at the close of the opening period, Team UAE did not give up and scored 6 times more.

On the first day of the tournament Team UAE lost to Belarus President’s Team, the favorite of the tournament, 3-7. Switzerland beat the newcomer Balkans Team 13-2.

Team Belarus will play Balkans Team at 19.00 on 5 January.

Russia and Finland opened the second day of the 13th Christmas International Amateur Ice Hockey Tournament with a 4-4 tie. Germany vs Slovakia faceoff started at 17h00. Slovakia whitewashed Russia in the opening match 12-0, and Finland overcame Germany 11-3.
