MINSK, 22 January (BelTA) – The 13th edition of the Festival of National Cultures in Grodno will be held on 5-6 June, Head of the Belarusian Center for National Cultures Olga Antonenko told journalists, BelTA has learned.
The festival will feature representatives of 35 ethnicities. “It is a unique event,” Olga Antonenko said. “We are currently collecting materials from various diasporas for a book about national cultural and social communities who live in Belarus and who take an active part in the festival in Grodno,” she added.
Heads of the diasporas have proposed holding a friendship party on the sidelines of this year’s festival. “We are currently mulling over this proposal. During the festival, various ethnicities demonstrate their cultures to visitors of the event. This year there may be a new event, namely a friendship party. It will bring all ethnicities together at one table or around a fire, we have not decided on the format yet. It will be a multinational celebration as its participants communicate, dance and sing together,” Olga Antonenko said.
She added that all national communities put a lot of effort into preparing for the festival in Grodno and try to surprise visitors with something new every year.
