MINSK, 17 June (BelTA) – The exhibition Vasil Bykov. The Long Road Home will open at the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 20 June to commemorate the writer’s life and celebrate his works, spokesman for the ministry Dmitry Mironchik told reporters on 16 June, BelTA has learned.
“The solemn opening of the exhibition Vasil Bykov. The Long Road Home, which has been organized by the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature, will take place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 20 June at 15.30. The exhibition will mark the 75th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alena Kupchyna will open the exhibition,” Dmitry Mironchik said.
He noted that the literary and documentary exhibition Vasil Bykov. The Long Road Home is themed around the writer’s last book of the same name. “The exhibition will feature photos by different people, including the writer’s youngest son Vasily Bykov, art historian and deputy director of the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local History Valery Shishanov, Counselor at the Belarusian Embassy in Germany Alexei Zhbanov, and First Secretary at the Belarusian Embassy in the Czech Republic Andrei Kukharchik. Among the exhibits, there will also be documents, manuscripts, book covers and Vasil Bykov’s drawings from the holdings of the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature and the writer’s personal archives,” Dmitry Mironchik added.
The opening ceremony will be attended by heads and staff members of diplomatic missions accredited in Belarus and creative intellectuals.
