MINSK, 4 March (BelTA) – An exhibition of well-known Belarusian artist Alexei Kuzmich, entitled Madonnas’ Images, opened in the Russian House of Science and Culture in Berlin on 4 March, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The exhibition was organized by the Belarusian embassy in Germany in cooperation with Alexei Kuzmich’s son to mark International Women’s Day.
The exposition that will stay open through early April includes more than 30 works of the artist from different time periods. The central theme of the exhibition is the image of Madonna as an icon of woman’s beauty, maternity and spirituality.
Speaking at the opening ceremony were Deputy Director of the Russian House of Science and Culture Alexander Anisimov and Belarus’ Charge d’Affaires Sergei Malinovsky.
Artist’s son Alexei Kuzmich who has come to Berlin on an invitation of the embassy, presented a book of memoirs about his father.
Guests were also shown a documentary about the famous painter “The Light of A Distant Star”.
The exhibition is held as part of a long-term project aimed at the popularization of the creativity of the outstanding artist, the Belarusian art and values abroad.
