Eco-marathon in Gomel gets international

GOMEL, 12 April (BelTA) – Belorusneft Eco-marathon will take place in Gomel on 21 April. It will be timed to International Mother Earth Day, BelTA learned from the regional branch of the Belarus Athletic Federation.

About 2,000 people have already registered for the event. These are athletes from all over Belarus, as well as from Ukraine, Russia, the United States of America, Italy, France, China, and Egypt. Registration is still open.

There will be three distances: an eco run (4.2km), a half marathon (21.097km) and a marathon (42.195 km).

Visitors and fans will be offered an entertainment program. There will be vendors and amusement rides for children.

This will be the third marathon of this kind. The main idea behind it is to promote environmental responsibility and a healthy lifestyle, to popularize running, to offer a diverse leisure program, to expand friendly contacts between athletes from various countries. Among the organizers of the event are the Belarus Athletic Federation, the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee and the Gomel municipal administration. Belorusneft is the official partner of the event this year.
