MINSK, 19 February (BelTA) – Belarusian judoka Dzmitry Minkou clinched silver at the Grand Slam Tel Aviv 2021, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Judo Federation.
The Belarusian defeated Nathon Burns of Ireland, Amir Bobovich of Israel, Sardor Nurillaev of Uzbekistan and Murad Chopanov of Russia in the 66kg weight category. In the final Dzmitry Minkou faced Spain’s Alberto Martin Gaitero, who earlier defeated Belarus’ Dzmitry Shershan.
Silver in Tel Aviv earned 700 points to Dzmitry Minkou.
The tournament in Tel Aviv will end on 20 February.
The Tokyo Games qualifying system also includes competitions in Tashkent on 5-7 March, Tbilisi on 26-28 March, Antalya on 1-3 April, and Paris on 8-9 May, the European championships in Lisbon on 16-18 April and the world championships in Budapest on 6-13 June.
The Olympic judo tournament in Tokyo is scheduled for 24-31 July.
