PORUMBENI, 19 April (BelTA) – Moldova President Igor Dodon promised to teach Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko how to grow grapes and produce wine. The two heads of state told the media the news as they visited the Porumbeni Institute of Horticulture on 19 April, BelTA has learned.
Igor Dodon noted that Moldova sells a lot of its wine products to Belarus. Taking into account the popularity of Moldovan wine in the country, he promised to teach Alexander Lukashenko how to grow grapes.
“I invite you to visit my native village in late September or early October so that we could harvest grapes, prepare the wine together. Thus you will learn even more about this industry. I think it will be a very interesting experience. I will be happy to show you my home place, the village I was born,” Igor Dodon said.
Alexander Lukashenko accepted the invitation and promised to visit the village of the Moldovan leader if his schedule allows. “We do grow grape in Belarus and in great amounts. But it is not like in Moldova. So I very much hope that my friend and colleague will teach me how to do it right. In case everything works out I will be happy to take advantage of the invitation and go see Igor Dodon’s native village. If not this year, then we will do it next year. And we will try to prepare the juice and then wine,” the Belarusian leader said.
