MINSK, 27 December (BelTA) – Chairman of the Central Council of the President's Sport Club Dmitry Lukashenko joined the nationwide charity campaign Our Children with his family. They visited a social and pedagogical center in Minsk’s Moskovsky District to present New Year gifts to the children, BelTA has learned.
The children received a laptop, sweet treats, and table games and gave a warm welcome to the guests in turn. They prepared catchy New Year performances which involved every student. The Yunost dance ensemble also came to wish happy New Year to the center.
There are 20 children and teenagers aged from 3 to 18 in the institution. The center takes care of children in need of government protection. They stay in the center for six months to receive support from psychologists, social pedagogues, and counselors.
The future of the children depends on how successful the rehabilitation of their parents is. If the parents comply with all the recommendations, they will have a chance to reunite with their children. Otherwise, the kids are placed in foster care or in a family-type children’s home.
On the average, around 50% of children reunite with their biological families a year. The specialists of the center do their best to help as many kids as possible to reunite with their parents.
