Dmitry Asanov claims champion title at St. Petersburg Governor Cup

MINSK, 11 May (BelTA) – Belarusian boxer Dmitry Asanov claimed the 60kg champion title at the St. Petersburg Governor Cup, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian defeated three-time world champion Lazaro Alvarez Estrada of Cuba in the final.

Competing at M-1 Arena in Russia’s St. Petersburg were athletes with high international rankings. The international boxing tournament was first held in 2009.

Boxing is part of the 2nd European Games program. The competitions will be held at the Uruchye Sport Palace on 21-30 June. A total of 316 athletes will compete in 15 medal events.
