MINSK, 20 February (BelTA) - More than 240 events will take place during the 25th edition of the Minsk International Book Fair which will be held from 28 February to 4 March, Yelena Pavlova, the head of publishing and printing at Belarus’ Information Ministry, told a press conference, BelTA has learned.
“More than 240 events have already been scheduled. The exhibition program will be published on the website of the Information Ministry in the next few days,” Yelena Pavlova said.
The 25th Minsk Book Fair will be headlined “Belarus: the cultural platform of Europe”. Belarus is a hospitable country where you can get acquainted with the customs and traditions of many peoples, where the cultural diversity serves the mutual enrichment as the country is home to many ethnicities.
The fourth international symposium Writer and Time due to take place during the book fair will see big-name authors from the CIS and non-CIS countries. Thirty-four writers from 21 states have confirmed their participation in the conference.
The symposium has become a flagship international project aimed at preserving the spiritual pillars of society and state, boosting humanitarian cooperation between writers from the CIS and non-CIS countries.
The symposium will see a seminar of literary translators co-organized by the Belarusian Information Ministry and the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund under the international humanitarian project Minsk Initiative. Another highlight will be a literary discussion of young writers organized with the assistance of the Belarus-Russia Union State Standing Committee.
The 2018 guest of honor is Serbia. The central exhibitor is Kazakhstan.
The organizers are the Belarusian Information Ministry, Minsk City Hall, the companies Belkniga and Makbel.
