MINSK, 18 May (BelTA) – Latvia’s Daugavpils is hosting the Days of Belarusian Culture, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Days of Belarusian Culture, organized by the Center of Belarusian Culture, are held as part of the Days of Slavonic Culture on an annual basis. Partaking in the opening ceremony were members of the Latvian legislative bodies and collectives of the Belarusian society Uzdym, representatives of the Belarusian society from Visaginas, Lithuania, and Russian, Polish, Latvian, and Ukrainian national societies.
Consul General of Belarus in Daugavpils, Latvia Vladimir Klimov stated in his greeting speech that the Days of Culture gives an opportunity to learn about customs, traditions and peculiarities of the national culture, promote mutual understanding between the people of the neighboring countries, enhance mutual trust and make everyone spiritually richer.
The program of the Days of Belarusian Culture will comprise amateur performances, master classes in beadweaving, making Belarusian sashes, a concert of songs written by member of the Belarusian society Uzdym, poet, member of the Union of Belarusian Writers Stanislav Volodko. Partaking in the events will also be representatives of Belarus’ border areas.
A subsidiary of the Belarusian Information Center in Latvia was opened in Daugavpils in cooperation with the Consulate General. The information center will secure access to the materials provided by the national center of legal information. The agreement on cooperation was signed by Chairman of the Belarusian Information Center in Latvia Vladislav Redkin and head of the Center of Belarusian Culture Zhanna Romanovskaya.
Apart from that, the Belarusian Tourism Information Center was opened at the Center of Belarusian Culture.
