MOSCOW, 21 June (BelTA) – The Days of Belarusian Culture in Russia opened on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow on 21 June, BelTA has learned.
“It is remarkable that Russia is hosting the Days of Belarusian Culture in 2016 that has been declared the Year of Culture by President Alexander Lukashenko,” Belarusian Deputy Culture Minister Vasily Chernik noted. The Days of Belarusian Culture opened in Moscow with the ballet Vitovt holding the prize of the President of the Republic of Belarus For Spiritual Revival.
“It is a pleasure for us that the company of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus has been invited to perform in Moscow, on the stage of the most famous theater in the world,” the Belarusian Deputy Culture Minister said.
He thanked the Russian Culture Ministry for the organization of the Days of Belarusian Culture and invited Russian performers to take part in the Days of Russian Culture in Belarus to be held in 2017.
The Belarusian ballet Vitovt drew a full house and was welcomed by a big round of applause. The press service of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia told BelTA that the tickets were available from box offices, and all the tickets were sold out by the beginning of the performance.
The photo exhibition The Union State – Unity of Peoples, Cultures, and Countries arranged by BelTA News Agency at the Bolshoi Theater in the run-up to the opening of the Days of Belarusian Culture in Russia also drew many viewers. It featured some 30 works about different aspects of life in the Belarus-Russia Union State.
