MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) – Darya Blashko of Belarus has topped the IBU Junior Cup Biathlon standings after finishing second in the 7.5 women’s sprint in Martell-Val Martello, Italy, BelTA has learned.
In the sprint the Belarusian was 3.7 seconds behind the winner, Kazakhstan’s Arina Pantova (15:07.20). One penalty prevented Darya Blashko from grabbing the gold medal. Her teammate Anastasia Anufriyeva finished 34th, 3:24.3 back with one penalty.
Earlier, Darya Blashko was third in the 12.5 sprint, 10 second behind Ukraine’s Mariya Krucheva. Second came in Yelizaveta Belchenko of Kazakhstan.
Darya Blashko clinched gold in the women’s 7.5km sprint during the IBU Junior Cup Biathlon 1 in Obertilliach.
The Belarusian has so far scored a total of 196 points to top the IBU Junior Cup Biathlon standings. Yelizaveta Belchenko sits second with 147 points. IBU Junior Cup Biathlon 3 will take place in Switzerland on 8-10 January 2016.
