MINSK, 14 January (BelTA) - Aliaksei Vishneuski’s crew of MAZ-SPORTauto Team placed third in Stage 11 of Dakar Rally 2021 which is taking place in Saudi Arabia, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian crew covered 598km in 4:51.31, 4.53 behind the winner, Anton Shibalov of Russia’s KAMAZ-Master Team (4:46.38). Russia’s Airat Mardeev came in second, 4.13 back.
Dmitry Sotnikov holds the lead in the general classification (45:51.33). Russia’s Anton Shibalov is second, 39:58 back. Third is Russia’s Airat Mardeev, 1:11.30 behind the leader.
The Belarusian crew piloted by Aliaksei Vishneuski is sixth, 2:14.08 behind the leader.
The Belarusian crew piloted by MAZ-SPORTauto leader Siarhei Viazovich was out of the Dakar 2021 competition after Stage 5 due to the problems with the gearbox.
The Dakar 2021 events are held every day for 14 days, with one day of rest (9 January). According to the organizers, the routes have been reconfigured by 80% compared to the last year's edition.
