MINSK, 2 May (BelTA) – A cycling event has drawn over 200 young athletes from Belarus, Russia, and China to Minsk, BelTA learned from the White Stork charity fund.
The BegoVeloKompot competition took place in the amusement park in Orlovskaya street and brought together children aged 1-7 from Minsk, Molodechno, Svetlogorsk, Smolevichi, Fanipol, Vileyka, Novogrudok, as well as from Russia’s Saint Petersburg, Kolomna, Tula, Petrozavodsk, and Moscow.
Taking part in the event was eight-time world track champion Natalia Tsylinskaya. According to her, such competitions help spot the most talented children and introduce them to sports.
An interactive sports ground for adults and children was installed in the amusement park for the event. Young athletes and amateurs of healthy lifestyle demonstrated their cycling skills, took part in contests, giveaways and a free tasting of healthy products. According to the organizers, such sports events are an excellent method to help young children develop movement skills, improve the cardiovascular system and vestibular system.
The event was timed to the international Bike Week campaign in Minsk which also includes the Minsk Cup, Grand Prix Minsk, Velomiss 2019, and Viva Rovar events. The money raised at the event will go to the White Stork charity fund which organized the event together with the Sportkids.by balance bicycles club. Minsk has been hosting this sports event for six years. It is held four times a year and is timed to significant dates for Belarus.
