MINSK, 9 June (BelTA) – Copies of Slutsk belts will be made available for all the museums of Minsk Oblast. The decision was made as Minsk Oblast Governor Semyon Shapiro met with representatives of Minsk Oblast unions of artistic intelligentsia on 9 June, BelTA has learned.
During the meeting representatives of the artistic intelligentsia suggested buying copies of the belts made by the Slutsk factory for all the museums of the oblast. At present prices for one belt vary from Br30 million to Br40 million depending on whether gold, silver, or other materials are used to make the belt.
Semyon Shapiro approved of the idea and noted that the nation’s pride should be demonstrated more broadly. The Governor gave instructions to buy copies of the famous belts for every district museum in Minsk Oblast within four years.
The implementation of creative initiatives and the fulfillment of instructions given by the Governor during a similar meeting with representatives of creative unions in March 2015 were discussed.
Over 25 representatives of the public associations Union of Writers of Belarus, the Belarusian Union of Journalists, the Belarusian Union of Musical Workers, the Belarusian Union of Composers, the Belarusian Union of Artists, and the Belarusian Union of Theater Workers took part in the meeting with the Minsk Oblast Governor.
