BORISOV AND ZHODINO, 2 May (BelTA) – Representatives of Chinese mass media, who arrived in Belarus for the sake of a mass media tour, visited the Belarusian-Chinese car factory BelGee and the Belarusian automobile engineering company BelAZ on 2 May, BelTA has learned.
Chinese employees of the BelGee joint venture arranged a tour of the enterprise under construction for the Chinese reporters. The enterprise is supposed to become Belarus’ key car manufacturing site in the future. The construction of a factory that will use completely knocked down kits (CKD) in addition to welding, painting, and assembly operations to make cars began between the Belarusian cities of Borisov and Zhodino in late March 2015. The new enterprise will occupy 118ha and is getting ready to employ 1,300 people. Initially the factory will make up to 60,000 cars per annum. Later on the output will be increased.

CKD factory’s director Vladimir Pavlovich pointed out that car manufacturing is a promising industry in Belarus. “We believe that BelGee will allow securing a breakthrough not only for Belarus but the entire Eurasian union. It will be possible to sell the end product — Geely cars — in other countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, too,” said Vladimir Pavlovich.
As part of the tour of BelAZ the Chinese reporters were made familiar with the history of the enterprise and the production of supersize trucks. Among other products they saw the world’s largest haul truck with the carrying capacity of 450 tonnes. It boasts two world records — the largest carrying capacity and the largest dumping body.
BelAZ First Deputy Director General for Technical Policy and Innovative Technologies, Chief Engineer Oleg Stepuk underscored that the Belarusian side views China as a reliable partner. In his words, the company is interested in using Chinese components in its products in order to make the end products more interesting for the Chinese market. Oleg Stepuk also mentioned Belarus-China cooperation in the industrial sphere as a most important area.
About 40 representatives of Chinese mass media are in Belarus for a media tour. The tour will last till 7 May.
