MINSK, 24 October (BelTA) – An 80-apartment public welfare home will be built in Minsk with China’s assistance. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming made the statement during the ceremony held in Minsk on 24 October to launch the second stage of the program on building public welfare housing using technical and economic aid from the Chinese government, BelTA has learned.
The diplomat noted that the public welfare housing construction program includes three stages and the first one has been completed already. As many as 16 houses in various parts of Belarus were built during the first stage. Launched on 24 October, the second stage provides for building 22 houses. An 80-apartment house is one of them and is expected to be commissioned in Minsk in June 2019. The third stage provides for building another 20 houses in various parts of the country.
The public welfare house in Minsk will have two sections and will be ten stories tall. It will have 41 two-bedroom apartments and 39 three-bedroom ones. They will come with interior finishing. The house will be located in the area delimited by Sharangovicha Street, Goretskogo Street, and Rafiyeva Street.
Central South Engineering Corporation under China Electric Power Construction Group will perform external oversight and management functions. China’s technical and economic aid will be used to finance construction and installation work, startup and commissioning work, internal and external finishing work, acquisition, installation, and tuning of the necessary equipment and materials. Belarus will cover expenses associated with the feasibility study, blueprint documents, engineering oversight, preparation of the construction site, and other expenses.
The ambassador said that after a tender Tianjin Electric Power Construction Company of China Energy Engineering Group has been chosen as the general contractor for the project.
