MINSK, 23 April (BelTA) – The Chinese Language and Culture Center opened at Belarusian State Technological University (BSTU), head of the press service of the university Andrei Dobrokhotov told BelTA.
The center is based at the BNTU Confucius Institute on Science and Technology. It is aimed at popularizing the Chinese language, disseminating the information about Chinese education, culture, economy, science and technology. The center will host events to strengthen international dialogue between the two countries.
According to BSTU Rector Igor Voitov, relations with the People's Republic of China occupy a special place in the university's international cooperation. BSTU has signed agreements with more than 20 universities of the country. The university joined Silk Road Association of Science and Technology Parks, High and New Technology Zones in 2017. As a result of reciprocal visits, the university established good contacts with large state-owned companies. Setting up a Belarus-China university in Guangdong Province is under consideration. Training of technologists for joint enterprises that will be set up in Belarus within the framework of the Belt and Road project is one of the priorities of cooperation with China. Overcoming the language barrier will become a significant step in that direction, and the center will significantly contribute to it.
The BNTU Confucius Institute on Science and Technology has received praise from the international community. The institute has been acknowledged as one of the best institutes of this kind. "I am sure the work of the new center will be organized at the same level," said Li Wenhua, First Secretary on Education of the People's Republic of China Embassy in Belarus.
