Centenary anniversary of Belarus’ National Library added to UNESCO list of commemorative dates

MINSK, 8 December (BelTA) - The decision to include the centenary anniversary of the National Library of Belarus in the List of Commemorations and Anniversaries was taken at the 41st session of the UNESCO General Conference. All in all, the calendar of events for 2022–2023 includes 67 most important events from around the world, BelTA learned from the press service of the National library of Belarus.

“Adding the National Library anniversary to the UNESCO calendar acknowledges the significant contribution of the National Library to the development of world culture and the popularization of the organization. This cooperation facilitates the integration of the National Library of Belarus into the international library community and will enrich its work to preserve and use the national cultural heritage,’ the National Library said.

The National Library will celebrate its 100th anniversary on 15 September 2022.
