MINSK, 12 February (BelTA) – The photo album Castles of Belarus that won the Grand Prix of the 54th edition of the nationwide contest Art of the Book reflects Belarus’ beauty and strength, project manager of the Belovagroup publishing house Tatiana Belova said at the presentation of the album, BelTA has learned.
The presentation of the winner of the Art of the Book Grand Prix was held at the 22nd Minsk International Book Fair on 12 February.
According to Tatiana Belova, the publication is unique in its intellectual content, photographic material and its polygraphic process.
The idea for the book emerged at the book exposition in Lithuania where Belarusian publishers got familiar with the Lithuanian project telling about castles. The Castles of Belarus publishing project is a milestone in the contemporary book culture. The book tells the story of Belarus as the country of castles. The archeological findings over the past 50 years have revealed about 300 such monuments.
The edition includes unique photos, cartography, archival and museum materials from national and foreign resources. The album comprises 32 archival photos of the Belarusian castles of the 19th – early 20th centuries from the library of Vilnius University.
