MINSK, 5 August (BelTA) – The BRSM Youth Union and the Youth Union of Uzbekistan have plans to implement joint IT projects, First Secretary of the BRSM Youth Union Central Committee Dmitry Voronyuk told reporters, BelTA has learned.
The 1st Youth IT Forum of Belarus and Uzbekistan kicked off in Minsk on 5 August. “Why have we started from IT? Because it is the most relevant industry today. We should not lag behind. Our forum is a unique communication platform enabling young talents from Uzbekistan and Belarus to develop a joint product for the real economic sector. The forum will result in a roadmap offering solutions to strategic issues and putting forward proposals to be implemented together. First of all, we should help our partners from Uzbekistan to establish contacts with Belarusian IT giants. We would like this forum to become a traditional event. Maybe, in subsequent years it will embrace other themes, but this year the focus is on information technology,” Dmitry Voronyuk said.
The BRSM Youth Union and the Youth Union of Uzbekistan signed a memorandum of cooperation in December 2018. The unions aim to build ties between the youth of the two countries. “The youth unions of Belarus and Uzbekistan have gained some experience of joint work. Although we have been collaborating just for a year, we have already held bilateral meetings between the youth leaders and activists of the two countries. The first Belarus-Uzbekistan youth brigades were involved in construction projects in Belarus this year,” he added.
Dmitry Voronyuk noted that the Belarusian youth received an invitation to visit Uzbekistan in September-October. “We will review the work we are doing now, on the sidelines of our forum during this week. We hope that the 1st Youth IT Forum of Belarus and Uzbekistan will bring the youth of the two countries even closer. We will strive for practical results,” he said.
The 1st Youth IT Forum of Belarus and Uzbekistan will officially open at the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics on 6 August. Representatives of the BRSM Youth Union and the Youth Union of Uzbekistan will sign a cooperation plan in information and communication technology. The first official meeting of the forum took place at the National Youth Center. BRSM presented a project ‘Belarus is a Source of Inspiration’ showcasing Belarusian traditions and national ornaments. BRSM also presented the project 100 Ideas for Belarus.
The forum is designed to become a platform to discuss modern trends and challenges in IT, jobs and careers in this sector, and to outline development prospects for the international youth startup movement and entrepreneurship. The delegation of Uzbekistan includes 30 people and is led by Kahramon Kuranbaev, First Deputy State Adviser to the Uzbekistan President on Youth, Science, Education, Health, and Sports, Chairman of the Central Council of the Youth Union of Uzbekistan.
The program of the youth education project includes a lot of business and cultural events: sessions featuring leading IT experts, presentations, and experience exchange. The forum is hosted by the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, Belarusian National Technical University and its sci-tech park Polytechnic, Minsk City Technopark, the educational center of the Hi-Tech Park, and EPAM Systems. The cultural program includes a tour of Minsk, visits to the National Library and the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War History, and other activities.
