Brest to host international festival Children of the Planet 27 April-1 May

BREST, 27 March (BelTA) – The third installment of the festival of children’s and youth art Children of the Planet will take place in Brest from 27 April to 1 May, BelTA learned from the organizing committee of the forum.

The event will be held in several venues: the Brest Academic Drama Theater, the Pushkin State University, and the Brest Regional Local History Museum. Apart from concerts, the program includes recitals, master classes, and evenings of culture of the countries participating in the forum. Balloons will be released at the opening and closing ceremonies of the festival.

This year, art competitions will feature six nominations and four age categories, from 5 to 21 years. The 2018 edition will see such genres as choreography, vocal, instrumental performance, painting, and applied art. A photo exhibition of works of sand art and an exclusive sand art master class will be arranged under the art project.

People of art, members of cultural associations, and public figures are set to evaluate the works by children and young people. The winners will receive internationally recognized diplomas. Regardless of the nomination, the juries will announce the best participant or the best team to get the Grand Prix.

The application deadline is 31 March. “This year, we expect to welcome a lot of participants from many countries. We gained certain experience during the first two editions of the festival. We have also become more active. We have been in touch with potential participants from virtually all the neighboring countries: Russia, Ukraine, and Poland. We have sent invitations to CIS countries, Italy, Spain, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Brazil, and other states,” the organizing committee noted.

The first edition of the Children of the Planet art project took place in Brest in the summer 2016. Back then, it brought together around 600 young artists form Belarus, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, and Turkmenistan. The second installment gathered over 900 participants from different countries. The festival is organized by the international public association Children’s Charity and ATIR travel agency in cooperation with the Brest City Hall. The project is meant to promote contacts between talented young people from different countries, bolster international ties, preserve national cultures, and expand humanitarian cooperation.
