MINSK, 24 May (BelTA) – Braslav will host the International Festival of Traditional Culture Braslavskie Zarnitsy (Braslav Lightnings) on 26-27 May, BelTA learned from the Culture Ministry.
The first day of the festival will see a competition of choirs from Vitebsk Oblast,a parade and concerts featuring professional and amateur groups from Belarus, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and Estonia.
The evening program will feature the medieval culture fest “Brachislav’s Sword” involving historical reconstruction clubs, Gistrion street art theater and Lity Taler folk group (Minsk) on the Castle Hill.
The Folk song and Dance Theater of the Smolensk State Institute of Arts, the guest of honor of the festival, will perform on the second day of the festival. The Braslav Folwark program will run presentations of rural farmsteads, artisans, and fairs of local enterprises of Braslav District. The Dance of the Wind contest will be held in the evening on the shore of the picturesque Drivyaty Lake.
Braslav Lightnings is one of the oldest festival in Belarus. Its 50th anniversary was celebrated in 2017. The event acquired the international status in 2009.
The organizers are Braslav District Executive Committee, Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee, the Culture Ministry.
