Book of Condolences opened at Russian Embassy in Minsk

MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) – The Russian Embassy in Minsk opened the Book of Condolences to pay tribute to the memory of Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrei Karlov who was killed in a terrorist attack in Ankara on 19 December, the website of the Russian mission in Belarus reads.

The Book of Condolences will be available for signing on 20 December from 14.00 to 17.00 and on 21 and 22 December from 10.00 to 17.00 with a break between 13.00 to 14:00.

As BelTA reported earlier, Russia’s Ambassador to Turkey Andrei Karlov was assassinated on 19 December at the opening of a photo exhibition in Ankara. The killer was identified as Mevlut Mert Altintas, an ex-member of Turkish police. The attacker died in a shootout with police.

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko expressed his condolences to the bereaved family of Andrei Karlov and conveyed the words of support to Russian President Vladimir Putin and the people of Russia. “We resolutely condemn terrorism in all forms and manifestations and support resolute action against terrorist threat whoever is behind it,” the message of condolences reads.
