GOMEL, 20 June (BelTA) – The nationwide festival of traditional culture Berahinya will take place in the settlement of Oktyabrsky, Gomel Oblast, on 20-24 June, BelTA learned from the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee.

The festival will welcome people who promote authentic arts and crafts. Taking part in the festival will be folklore teams from Belarus and abroad. The festival is a mix of traditional dance, music, arts and crafts and folk literature.

The festival will be packed with events. Exhibitions of papercutting art, photo collections, and portraits of representatives of traditional culture will take place on the first day of the festival. A conference to discuss ethnic upbringing will be held on the same day.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for 21 June. A three-day competition will bring together talented children and adults who will compete in dancing, singing, instrument playing. Participants will compete in teams and individually.

The numerous entertainment events will include master classes, music, singing and dancing performances, exhibitions and concerts.

The festival of traditional culture Berahinya has been held since 1998 to celebrate talent in traditional arts and crafts. The festival aims to preserve and promote authentic culture.

The festival is arranged by the Culture Ministry, the Education Ministry, the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee, the Oktyabrsky District Executive Committee and the Belarusian Culture Foundation.
