MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) - The Belarusian Telegraph Agency BelTA and the Latin American News Agency Prensa Latina signed an agreement on information exchange following the official talks between the presidents of Belarus and Cuba in Minsk on 23 October, BelTA has learned.
The document was signed by BelTA Director General Irina Akulovich and Cuban Ambassador to Belarus Juan Valdes Figueroa.
The agreement provides for the regular exchange of news in Russian, Spanish and English on current developments in the domestic and international life of the two countries.
The previous agreement was signed in Havana in April 2006. Since then, the news agencies have had an active information exchange about the developments in the two countries and regions. In order to keep up with the modern realities, the agencies decided to sign a new agreement.
BelTA has launched a Spanish news service. Thus the parties have an opportunity to exchange news directly, in the fastest possible way. BelTA and Prensa Latina have agreed to cooperate on social networks and internet platforms. Under the agreement, the parties shall also exchange video content.
The conclusion of the current agreement is a continuation of BelTA's efforts to establish information cooperation with foreign partners, whose number approximates 30 today.
