The exhibition features 50 photos, of which 25 are black and white showing the life in the country some 25-30 years ago. The rest includes color photographs depicting the present-day Belarus.
“The human memory is unable to keep all the details unfading. Photos help recall the past events, restore the overall picture. These works allow us to assess the real scale of changes in our country. We see young people as the main audience for the project,” said BelTA Director General Dmitry Zhuk.
According to Deputy Chairperson of the Permanent Commission for Healthcare, Physical Education, Family and Youth Policy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly Yelena Shamal, exposition makes a history in pictures for the youth that take part in the event today. For an older generation, it is a life history. “I hope this exhibition will help remember the things that are really valuable for every individual,” she said.
The expo is part of BelTA’s same-name project to illustrate the changes that took place in Belarus in the span of the past 20 years. Comparing modern photos with the ones from the archives, the expo visitors will see the progress made by the national industry and agriculture, transport infrastructure, science, medicine, and the Armed Forces. The pictures of the latest years show the spheres of life in which the country has made the biggest progress and can be proud of.
The expo will stay open in Minsk through 16 October. The mobile photo exposition will travel to Shchuchin on Day of Belarusian Written Language. Later the expo will travel all oblast centers of Belarus.
The project also includes the website http://bylostalo.belta.by/ru/
, a visual analogue of the photo expo.
