MINSK, 18 January (BelTA) – The Spring Festival (also known as the Chinese New Year) will allow Belarusians to get familiar with Chinese national traditions, BelTA learned from Zhang Hongwei, First Secretary of the Embassy of China in Belarus, on 18 January.
Spring Festival 2017 in Belarus will focus on the 25th anniversary since the establishment of Belarusian-Chinese diplomatic relations and the traditional Chinese New Year.
Spring Festival has been celebrated for nearly 4,000 years. The tradition has been passed from generation to generation. The holiday is still the most important one for the Chinese nation.
According to Zhang Hongwei, the holiday has accumulated deep cultural aspirations of the Chinese nation. It reflects the ideal of harmony between people and environment. The Chinese civilization has followed the ideal since times immemorial. The official also underlined the importance of culture in Belarus-China cooperation. China and Belarus are building up mutual trust and promoting contacts with active assistance of the two heads of state — Alexander Lukashenko and Xi Jinping, noted the First Secretary of the Embassy of China in Belarus.
Spring Festival 2017 in Belarus will take place in Minsk and Grodno on 18-21 January. It will allow Belarusians to take a closer look at Chinese cultural traditions.
The event has been organized by the Embassy of China in Belarus as well as the Belarusian and Chinese culture ministries. OOO Bel Huawei Technologies is one of the co-organizers.
