MINSK, 8 November (BelTA) – Four Belarusian players have improved their positions in the WTA rankings, BelTA has learned.

Aliaksandra Sasnovich moved up to 85th with 850 points. Yesterday Aliaksandra Sasnovich went off to a good start in Austria’s Linz seeing off Fiona Ferro of France in the round of Last 32. The Belarusian will next play former world number one Simona Halep of Romania, currently ranked 22. Olga Govortsova went up one spot to 135th with 564 points. Yuliya Hatouka has taken her career high 189th spot with 365 points. Iryna Shymanovich goes 262nd with 260 points.

Belarus’ best tennis players retained their positions in the WTA: Aryna Sabalenka is second with 6,130 points, Victoria Azarenka is 27th with 2,166 points.

The ATP rankings leader Novak Djokovic of Serbia won the ATP-1000 tournament in Paris to secure his 37th ATP title. He surpassed Spain’s Rafael Nadal in the number of won Masters tournaments. Moreover, the 34-year-old Serbian player secured year-end No. 1 spot for record seventh time, surpassing Pete Sampras of the United States.

Belarus’ Ilya Ivashka goes 45th with 1,263 points in the ATP rankings, Egor Gerasimov is 113th with 675 points. On 9 November, Egor Gerasimov will play Taylor Fritz of the United States (World No.26) in the Stockholm Open round of Last 32.
