MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) – Belarusian Writers’ Union plans to conclude new contracts with its foreign counterparts during the 24th Minsk Book Fair, Nikolai Cherginets, Chairman of the Belarusian Writers’ Union, told BelTA.
“We are planning to sign several cooperation agreements with our foreign colleagues. We concluded such contracts with the writers’ unions of nearly 40 countries and now can publish books by Belarusian authors abroad,” Nikolai Cherginets said. There are plans to conclude agreements with Venezuela, Iran, France, and other countries. Plans have been made to hold negotiations with members of foreign writers’ unions during the Minsk Book Fair.
Nikolai Cherginets noted that the works by Belarusian writers were translated and published in more than 15 countries. “I believe that we will conclude the similar agreements during the Minsk Book Fair this year too, and Belarusian writers will get new possibilities to promote their works.” For the first time ever, a book by a Belarusian writer was published in Turkey. Among the books published in Belarus, there are also works by writers from France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Venezuela, Cuba, Serbia, and other countries.
The 24th International Minsk Book Fair is running in the Belarusian capital from 8 to 12 February 2017. The fair is featuring the representatives of 31 country, including Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, Czechia, Cuba, Ecuador, Finland, Germany, Iran, Italy, Israel, Kazakhstan, the Republic of Korea, Moldova, Palestine, Pakistan, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Switzerland, Sweden, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Venezuela. Greece is a newcomer.
