MINSK, 7 March (BelTA) – Belarus won two bronze medals at the U23 UWW Senior European Championships in Novi Sad, Serbia, BelTA has learned.
Aliaksandr Liavonchyk took bronze at the Greco-Roman 67kg weight category. In the quarterfinal he lost to future silver medalist Sebastian Nad of Serbia to successful come through the repechage defeating athletes from Bulgaria and Romania.
In the 82kg weight category Stanislau Shafarenka reached the semifinal to lose to Zotlan Levai from Hungary who later clinched gold. In the bronze medal bout the Belarusian turned too stronger for Svetoslav Nikolov of Bulgaria.
The championships which will also include women’s and freestyle medal events, will be over on 10 March.
